Ask AI:
Add a Remote MCP URL
Use Add remote MCP URL when you already have an MCP endpoint (your own server, a vendor-hosted URL, or a listing from the MCP Registry) and want it in your workspace with discovered tools.
Where to start
- Open MCP Servers.
- Click Add remote MCP URL in the header (same entry appears in the workspace menu on some pages).
- Paste the full HTTPS MCP URL (including path if the server requires it).
You land on the analysis flow: MCPBundles probes the server, lists tools/resources, and walks through OAuth or API setup when the server requires auth.
What happens during analysis
| Step | What you see |
|---|---|
| Probe | Tool and resource discovery against the URL |
| Auth | OAuth, dynamic client registration, or credential fields when the server is protected |
| Add to workspace | Server appears under In workspace like any other MCP server |
After add completes, open the server detail page for Connections, Quick Setup, and Studio.
Publishing vs workspace add
- Add remote MCP URL — private workspace copy for your team (analyze + connect).
- Publishing MCP servers — public directory listing, claims, and federation URLs.
You can start from analysis with ?intent=publish when you intend to list a server publicly; the same analyzer powers both flows.
Tips
- Use the exact URL the operator documents (trailing slash matters for some servers).
- For localhost or machine-local servers, use MCPBundles Desktop so the backend can reach your machine.
- If analysis fails, check TLS, auth, and that the URL speaks MCP over HTTP(S) — not a generic REST API base URL.
