Preview or Edit Existing Note

Use this to add formatted material to an existing Aven note or change one exact passage. It works with both Markdown and rich-text Aven notes. Use Markdown in text/replacement for headings, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, highlight, code, links, lists, task lists, blockquotes, and horizontal rules. Prefer replace_exact for targeted corrections or formatting changes and append for new sections. Always call first with confirm=false and let the user review the returned before/after preview.

List user-owned folders from the current Aven account.

List Decks

List or find user-owned decks. With an exact deckId, includeCards=true returns a bounded page of that deck's flashcards and study state. Use cardOffset/cardLimit to page through cards; Aven never returns cards from multiple decks in one request.

Preview or Create Note-Backed Flashcards

Preferred tool for creating new Aven flashcards. It stores the flashcards in a user-facing flashcard note and keeps the linked deck as internal study/scheduling plumbing. Put shared formatted source content once in sourceMarkdown so headings, bold, italic, lists, code, links, equations, and context remain visible above the cards; use per-card sourceText only for different card-specific provenance. Fetch Aven Note

Use this after search when the user wants the complete contents of one Aven note for summarization, comparison, contradiction checks, or other grounded analysis. The existing Aven backend entitlement for full note content still applies.

List Aven Tags

List existing Aven tags so you can reuse the user's real tag vocabulary instead of inventing near-duplicate labels. For flashcard string tags, prefer an exact existing tag name when it matches the user's intent. hasAutoTemplate warns that applying that first-class tag to a note may have additional template behavior; do not assign note tag IDs through an unrelated write tool.

Get Course Learning State

Use this when the user asks what they should study next, what they are weakest at, what flashcards are due, or how recent quizzes went in a specific Aven course. Returns compact signals from stored Aven study history; it does not infer mastery beyond recorded quiz, card, and review data.

Study Flashcards

Show and study real Aven flashcards with due/new metadata. With no target, mode=due returns due cards across the whole Aven workspace. Or scope to one exact deck, note/file, folder (including descendants), course, source file, or existing tag/topic. The same Aven-styled carousel renders when the host supports MCP Apps. Grade Flashcard

Record one explicit Aven flashcard review grade and update the canonical Aven schedule. Call this only after the user explicitly chooses Forgot, Hard, Good, or Easy (including by pressing the Aven study widget button). Never infer a grade from the user's answer quality. The call is idempotent for the same study occurrence and attempt, and stale card revisions fail closed.

Preview or Upload Course Material

Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain-text, or Markdown source into an existing Aven course for durable reading and background search indexing. Provide either a public HTTPS sourceUrl or base64 content (inline content is limited to 30 MB). First call with confirm=false; after explicit approval repeat the unchanged input with confirm=true and previewToken. Exact retries reuse the same upload job and source-document IDs.
