List Datasets
List all available Canadian census datasets. Returns dataset identifiers (e.g. CA21, CA16), descriptions, attribution, and reference links. Datasets span 1996–2021 census years plus T1FF taxfiler data. No API key required.
Search Variables
Search census variables (vectors) available in a dataset by keyword. Searches both the variable label and its full topic breadcrumb (details field). All words in the query must match (AND logic, case-insensitive). Use broad topic words and narrow if needed, e.g. "income" then "median after-tax income". Args: dataset: Dataset identifier, e.g. "CA21" for 2021 census, "CA16" for 2016. query: Space-separated search terms, e.g. "median income" or "visible minority". type: Optional
Search Regions
Search named geographic regions (municipalities, CMAs, CDs, provinces) by name. The primary way to discover geo_uid values for use in the regions parameter of other tools. Get Child Vectors
