Tell Chris something is wrong (or right)

Send feedback about anything on this site: the chess engine, the portfolio tools, the discovery documents, the writing. No account and no token. If you are reporting a chess problem, pass the gameId and the whole game becomes reproducible, which is the difference between a report that gets fixed and one that gets filed. Blunt is useful; this exists because a player pointing out that the engine was hanging pieces is what found a real search bug.

Start a game of chess

Start a game against a deterministic chess engine. THIS TOOL OPENS A LIVE BOARD: in any client that supports MCP Apps, calling it renders an interactive chessboard inline that follows the game on its own and that the person watching can play from by clicking. You do not have to do anything to open it and you should not try; call the tool and the board appears. Do NOT then describe the position in text or redraw it as ASCII, because the board is already there and saying it twice is worse than say

Play a move

Play one move and get the engine's reply. Accepts SAN ('Nf3', 'exd5', 'O-O') or long algebraic ('g1f3', 'e7e8q'). Returns both moves, how your move ranked against every legal alternative, and the updated position, with the board attached as an image so the person watching sees it rather than a list of move names. An illegal move returns the list of legal moves rather than an error you have to guess at.

Resign

Concede the game. Use this when the position is lost and playing it out would waste the person's time, not when you are merely worse. A reason is required and is recorded with the game as something you said, so write it for whoever reads the game later: what did you see that decided it. The engine is awarded the win and the game ends immediately.

Get a game

The state of a game, and a LIVE BOARD for it. In any client that supports MCP Apps this reopens the interactive board, so it is the tool to call when somebody asks to see the game, when a board has scrolled away, or when a game is resumed in a fresh conversation. It opens by itself; do not describe the position in text as well.
