SeeClickFix / Open311 API

Municipal service requests (311 complaints) across thousands of US cities. No authentication required.

Data Model

• Issue — A service request with type, status, location, summary, description, and timestamps.
• RequestType — Category of issue (pothole, graffiti, streetlight, etc.) specific to each jurisdiction.
• Place — A jurisdiction (city, county) with its own issue types and workflows.

Key Fields

• id — Unique issue identifier.
• status — Current state: "Open", "Acknowledged", "Closed", "Archived".
• summary — Short description of the issue.
• lat / lng — Geographic coordinates.
• address — Human-readable location.
• created_at / updated_at — ISO 8601 timestamps.
• request_type — Category object with title and organization.
• rating — Community importance rating.

Pagination

• per_page — Items per page (default 20, max 100).
• page — Page number (1-based).
• Sort by created_at, updated_at, or rating.
• sort_direction — "asc" or "desc".

Gotchas

• Not all cities participate — coverage varies by municipality.
• Issue categories are jurisdiction-specific (not standardized across cities).
• Geographic search uses lat, lng, zoom parameters for bounding-box queries.
• Closed issues remain accessible but may lack resolution details.
