Domain knowledge for using e-conomic accounting tools effectively

e-conomic

e-conomic is Danish accounting software for invoicing, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.

Data Model

  • Accounting years define the fiscal period. Accounts are the chart of accounts. Currencies and journals are baseline config.
  • Customers and customer groups for segmentation and pricing.
  • Invoices have distinct statuses: draft (unsent), sent, booked (finalized), and payment states (not_due, overdue, paid). Separate endpoints per status — choose the one matching your filter.
  • Orders and quotes follow a pipeline: draft → sent → archived. Quotes become orders when accepted.
  • Products belong to product groups and use units. Suppliers, employees, and departments support cost allocation.
  • VAT uses zones, types, and accounts. Payment terms and payment types configure how invoices are paid.

Gotchas

  • Invoice variants: Separate tools for not_due, overdue, paid, sent, total, unpaid — use the one matching your filter.
  • Draft vs Booked: Draft invoices are unsent; booked invoices are finalized and cannot be edited.
