Data Model

• Organisation — A UK government department, agency, or public body.
• Types — ministerial_department, non_ministerial_department, executive_agency, executive_ndpb (non-departmental public body), advisory_ndpb, tribunal_ndpb, other, sub_organisation, devolved_administration.
• Status — live (active), closed, exempt (separate website), transitioning.

Key Fields

• title — Organisation name
• acronym — Short abbreviation (e.g. HMRC, MOD)
• slug — URL-safe identifier
• format — Organisation type
• govuk_status — Whether they have a live GOV.UK presence
• parent_organisations / child_organisations — Organisational hierarchy
• superseded_organisations / superseding_organisations — Historical changes
• brand — Visual identity family (e.g. hm-revenue-customs, ministry-of-defence)

Gotchas

• Organisation types: Some organisations have separate websites (govuk_status: exempt) and limited GOV.UK data.
• Full catalog: Organisation listing returns the complete set in one response—expect a large payload.
