HMRC Trade Stats

Access HMRC trade and tax statistics published on GOV.UK. No authentication required.

Data Model

• Publication — A statistical release or report published by HMRC on GOV.UK.
• Supergroup — Content category: research_and_statistics for stats, transparency for spending.
• Organisation — Filter by hm-revenue-customs slug.

Key Fields (search results)

• title — Publication title
• description — Summary of the publication
• public_timestamp — When it was published/updated
• link — Path on GOV.UK (use with content API for full details)
• organisations — Publishing organisation(s)
• format — Content format (e.g. official_statistics, national_statistics, research)

Key Fields (publication detail)

• base_path — Canonical URL path
• content_id — UUID identifier
• details.attachments — Data files (ODS, CSV, HTML attachments)
• details.body — HTML body with methodology and notes
• details.national_applicability — Which UK nations data covers

Gotchas

• The original uktradeinfo.com API is deprecated. Data is now published via GOV.UK.
• Search uses the GOV.UK search API filtered to HMRC organisation.
• Detail uses the GOV.UK content API at /api/content/{path}.
• Pagination: start parameter (0-based offset), default page size varies.
• count parameter controls results per page (max ~1000).
