  • Get Model Summary

    Overview of the loaded model(s): file names with IFC schema and length unit (mm/m/in/ft — also THE answer to "what units does the project use"), total element count, storeys, and the IFC types present with their counts. Call this first to understand what is in the model.

  • Find Elements

    Search the loaded model for elements by IFC type, name substring and/or storey. Returns a count and a small sample. Use before acting when unsure what matches.

  • Get Element Info

    Read one element in full: IFC type, name, GlobalId, storey, and all its property-set and quantity values. Use the numeric id from find_elements or get_selection.

  • Get Selection

    Read what the user currently has selected in the 3D view (ids, types, names).

  • Get Spatial Tree

    The spatial hierarchy of the loaded model(s): IfcProject → site → building → storey → space, each node with its id, IFC class, name, elevation and how many elements it directly contains. get_model_summary says WHAT is in the model; this says how it is ORGANISED — call it to learn the real storey/space names before filtering by storey, or to answer "what is the structure of this project". Deep or wide trees are capped and the response says what was left out.

  • Get Relations

    How one element is tied to the rest of the model: the spatial path from IfcProject down to its container, its aggregation parent and parts, its type object, materials, classifications, the groups / systems / zones it belongs to, and its openings, fillings and connections. get_element_info reads an element's OWN data (properties, quantities); this reads its RELATIONSHIPS. Use it for "what is this part of", "what is inside it", "what is it connected to".

  • List Materials

    Every material used in the loaded model(s) with the number of elements carrying each one, busiest first. THE answer to "what materials are in this model". To SEE them use colorize_by {source:"material"}; to act on one use filter_elements with a material rule.

  • Get Ifc Schema

    Look up the IFC STANDARD itself, not the loaded model: what a class is — its EXPRESS parent, whether it is abstract, the PredefinedType values it allows, its attributes, its companion type entity and the standard property sets that apply to it. Pass propertySet instead to read one Pset_*/Qto_* definition: every property with its data type and allowed values. Call it before retype_element / set_attribute / set_property when unsure a class, attribute or PredefinedType is valid, rather than guessin

  • Hide Elements

    Hide from view every element matching the selector (type/name/storey).

  • Show Elements

    Un-hide (reveal) the elements matching the selector.

    Un-hide all user-hidden elements (restores visibility).

    Hide whatever the user currently has selected.
