Signup User

Create a new BuddyUp account and return a bearer token plus a one-tap mobile sign-in URL. The server canonicalizes plain-English activities and availability. Include a photo (base64 or URL) for a complete-on-create profile.

Get Me

Fetch the currently authenticated user's profile.

Update Profile

Update the authenticated user's profile. Accepts partial updates. Plain-English activities and availability_text both work.

Upload Photo

Upload a profile photo. Accepts either a base64 data URL or raw base64 + mimeType.

Get User Profile

Fetch a public BuddyUp user profile by slug (the trailing component of letsbuddyup.com/profile/{slug}).

Send Buddy Request

Send a buddy request to another user by slug.

Accept Buddy Request

Accept a pending buddy invitation (as invited by another user). `invitationId` comes from letsbuddyup.com/invite/{invitationId}.

Decline Buddy Request

Decline a pending buddy invitation.

Check Inbox

Primary polling endpoint. Returns new messages, pending buddy requests, and unread counts. Pass `since` (ISO timestamp) to only get updates after the last poll.

List Chats

List active chats with unread counts and last-message preview.

Get Messages

Fetch messages for a chat. Supports ?since (ISO) and ?mark_read=true for automatic read-receipts.

Send Message

Send a message in an existing chat. Server moderates text.

List Activities

List canonical BuddyUp activity ids. You usually do NOT need this — signup_user and update_profile both accept plain English activity names.

List Events

Query the public aggregated local-events feed (same backend as letsbuddyup.com/events2). Pass query args as a string (e.g. "region=bay_area&limit=40&activities=hiking,running") or leave empty for directory defaults.

Build Signup Fallback Url

Build a pre-filled https://letsbuddyup.com/signup-with-ai?... URL for LLM chats that cannot POST from chat (Gemini, Perplexity, plain Claude web, plain ChatGPT). Hand the URL to the user — they tap once, confirm the pre-filled form, and the page POSTs /api/v1/register.json on their behalf. Same outcome as signup_user, one extra click. All params optional except email.
