List countries where Open Price Engine tracks grocery stores.

List Stores

List tracked grocery stores, optionally filtered by one or more countries. Args: country: Country name(s), e.g. "South Africa", "SouthAfrica", ["South Africa", "United Kingdom"], or "South Africa,Kenya".

List currency codes supported for price conversion.

Search Products

Search product names within stores and/or countries (substring match). Use this before price tools when the exact product title is unknown. Pass stores, countries, or both — countries expand to shops in those markets. Args: query: Substring to match in product names (e.g. "full cream milk"). stores: Store name(s), e.g. ["Pick n Pay", "Woolworths"] or "pnp". countries: Country name(s) to search across, e.g. ["South Africa", "Kenya"]. limit: Max matche

Get Product Price

Get the latest available price for a product at one store. Args: store: Store alias (e.g. pnp, woolworths, aldi, traderjoes). product: Product name or substring (e.g. "Milk 2L"). currency: ISO currency code, or DEFAULT for the store's local currency.

Price History

Get historical prices for a product at one store. Args: store: Store alias. product: Product name or substring. start_date: YYYY-MM-DD (defaults to `days` ago). end_date: YYYY-MM-DD (defaults to yesterday). currency: ISO currency or DEFAULT. include_series: If true, include sampled Price over time points. days: Used when start_date is omitted (default 30).

Compare Prices

Compare one product across multiple retailers and/or countries. Args: product: Product name or substring. stores: Store names to compare. Optional if countries is set. countries: Country name(s) to expand into shops, e.g. ["South Africa", "UK"]. start_date: YYYY-MM-DD (optional). end_date: YYYY-MM-DD (optional). currency: ISO currency or DEFAULT. days: Lookback window when dates omitted (default 7).

Find Cheapest Store

Find the cheapest retailer for a basket of products (sum of latest prices). Products that are missing at a store are skipped for that store's basket total. Stores that have fewer matched products are still ranked, with a coverage count. Args: products: Basket of product name substrings. stores: Store names to search. Optional if countries is set. countries: Country name(s) to expand into shops, e.g. ["South Africa", "Nigeria"]. currency: ISO currency

List Electronics Stores

List tracked electronics retailers, optionally filtered by one or more countries. Args: country: Country name(s), e.g. "South Africa", ["Germany", "United Kingdom"].

Search Electronics Products

Search electronics product names within stores and/or countries. Use list_electronics_stores first. Grocery shop names will not work here. Args: query: Substring to match, e.g. "galaxy s25" or "macbook". stores: Electronics store name(s), e.g. ["Takealot", "First Shop"]. countries: Country name(s) to expand into electronics retailers. limit: Max matches returned per store (default 25).

Get Electronics Price

Get the latest available electronics price at one retailer. Args: store: Electronics store name from list_electronics_stores (e.g. Takealot). product: Product name or substring (e.g. "Samsung Galaxy S25"). currency: ISO currency code, or DEFAULT for the store's local currency.

Electronics Price History

Get electronics price history for a product at one retailer. The API returns the full scrape history; this tool optionally trims it to start_date/end_date (or the last `days`). Args: store: Electronics store name. product: Product name or substring. start_date: YYYY-MM-DD (defaults to `days` ago). end_date: YYYY-MM-DD (defaults to yesterday). currency: ISO currency or DEFAULT. include_series: If true, include sampled Price over time p

Track Price

Create a price watch/alert for a product (scoped to your API key on the MCP server). Hosted email/push alerts are not available yet — use check_price_watches to poll. Args: store: Store alias. product: Product name or substring. target_price: Optional price threshold to watch for. currency: Preferred currency for checks. note: Optional note for the watch.

Fuel Prices

Get fuel, electricity, and natural gas prices by country. Uses the Open Price Engine energy dataset (global petrol prices source). Some fields may be masked (****) on free/simple API keys. Args: countries: Country name(s), e.g. ["South Africa", "Nigeria"]. year: Optional year (e.g. "2026"). month: Optional month name (e.g. "July").

Market Statistics

Compute average, min, max, and % change for a product's price history. Args: store: Store alias. product: Product name or substring. start_date: YYYY-MM-DD (optional). end_date: YYYY-MM-DD (optional). currency: ISO currency or DEFAULT. days: Lookback when dates omitted (default 90).
