Postscript SMS

Postscript powers SMS subscriber lists, keyword opt-ins, audience segments, campaigns, and shop analytics for Shopify brands.

First moves

  1. Account info — verify which shop the connection represents when multiple brands or environments are in play.
  2. Keywords — list or fetch opt-in keywords when you need acquisition sources.
  3. Segments — list audience segments with subscriber counts for campaign planning.
  4. Campaigns — review what was already sent to avoid duplicate blasts.
  5. Subscribers — list or filter subscribers before bulk exports or consent updates.
  6. Shop analytics — pull aggregate subscriber growth and messaging activity.

Data model

Shop → keywords / segments / campaigns / subscribers. Responses use prefixed ids (s_ subscribers, kw_ keywords) — copy those ids from list responses for follow-up reads and writes.

Operational order

  1. Start with account info when shop identity is unclear.
  2. List keywords before adding subscribers — every opt-in must tie to a configured keyword.
  3. Use segment counts for planning; paginate through subscribers when you need exact totals.
  4. Check campaign history before recommending a new send window.

Subscriber writes (TCPA)

Add subscribers only with keyword_id from a configured opt-in keyword — never bypass double opt-in. Update subscriber metadata when tags or profile fields change. Unsubscribe removes send consent without deleting history.

No campaign send or SMS blast capability — outbound marketing sends stay out of scope intentionally. TCPA compliance requires human-approved send workflows; this bundle covers list hygiene, segments, analytics, and subscriber consent writes only.

Gotchas

  • Pagination — subscriber, segment, and campaign lists paginate; keep paging until you reach the last page or have enough rows.
  • Segment counts — counts on a segment row are planning hints; exact totals may require paging through subscribers.
  • Keyword-bound opt-ins — subscriber adds without a keyword_id violate TCPA-safe double opt-in.
