List JAKIM prayer zones

List the 59 official JAKIM prayer-time zones of Malaysia, grouped by state. Every other prayer-time tool is addressed by one of these zone codes (SGR01, WLY01, JHR03). If you have a place name or coordinates rather than a code, call find_prayer_zone instead — this tool is for browsing the whole list or the zones of one state.

Find a JAKIM prayer zone

Resolve a Malaysian place name or GPS coordinates to its JAKIM prayer-time zone code, which the prayer-time tools require. Call this first whenever the user names a place rather than a zone code. Pass either `query` (a town, city or state name) or both `latitude` and `longitude` — not both forms at once. May return several candidates; if it does, ask the user which one rather than picking for them.

Prayer times for one day

Official JAKIM prayer times for one day in one Malaysian prayer zone, with the next upcoming prayer when the date is today. Requires a JAKIM zone code such as SGR01 — call find_prayer_zone first if you only have a place name. Times are 24-hour HH:MM in Malaysian local time (Asia/Kuala_Lumpur, UTC+08:00). Prayer names are Malay: subuh (fajr), zohor (dhuhr), asar (asr), maghrib, isyak (isha); imsak, syuruk (sunrise) and dhuha are markers, not prayers.

Prayer times for one month

Official JAKIM prayer times for every day of one gregorian month in one Malaysian prayer zone. Requires a JAKIM zone code such as SGR01 — call find_prayer_zone first if you only have a place name. Times are 24-hour HH:MM in Malaysian local time (Asia/Kuala_Lumpur, UTC+08:00). For a single day use get_prayer_times; for a span crossing a month boundary use get_prayer_times_range.

Prayer times for a date range

Official JAKIM prayer times for every day in a date range, in one Malaysian prayer zone. Use this for a span that does not line up with a calendar month — a week of Ramadan, say. Requires a JAKIM zone code such as SGR01; call find_prayer_zone first if you only have a place name. The range is capped at 62 days; for longer spans call get_monthly_prayer_times once per month. Times are 24-hour HH:MM in Malaysian local time (Asia/Kuala_Lumpur, UTC+08:00).

Qibla direction

The qibla (kiblat) — the compass bearing towards the Kaaba in Mecca — from a set of coordinates or a Malaysian place name. Returns a true-north bearing in degrees, the same value the solat.my compass at /kiblat shows. Bearings are relative to TRUE north, not magnetic north; a phone compass usually reads magnetic, so say so rather than letting someone assume they match.

Search the mosque directory

Search Malaysia's mosque and surau directory, sourced from JAKIM's SISMIM register. Filter by name or address text, by state, and by category, or pass coordinates to sort by distance and get the nearest ones. Results are paged. The directory is incomplete and some records are inaccurate — it is a register, not a verified list, and it carries no prayer times of its own. For prayer times use get_prayer_times with the zone code each result carries.
