List symbols and strategy modes

Returns the distinct trading symbols and strategy modes available in the backtest dataset, with counts. Use this first to discover valid filter values for the other tools.

Dataset statistics

Returns overall statistics for the completed backtest dataset: total count, snapshot timestamp (the data is a daily snapshot, NOT real time), and how many strategies beat buy & hold (positive alpha). Use this for high-level questions about the dataset.

Search backtests

Search completed backtests with filters. Sort defaults to alpha (strategy return minus buy & hold over the same window), the most meaningful ranking. return_pct and alpha_pct are the reliable metrics; win_rate is reported but can be misleading for high-frequency modes. Returns at most `limit` rows (default 20, max 100), each with a deep link to its full report page.

Top performing backtests

Returns the best backtests ranked by alpha (return minus buy & hold) by default, or by raw return. Optionally restricted to one symbol. Use this for "best strategies" questions.

Compare strategy vs buy & hold

For a given symbol, shows how the best strategies performed versus simply buying and holding over the same window (alpha = strategy return minus buy & hold). This is the core transparency feature: it surfaces both winners and losers honestly. Returns the top strategies by alpha plus the buy & hold baseline.

Symbol summary

Returns aggregate stats for one symbol: number of backtests, best alpha and return, share of strategies beating buy & hold, and the single best strategy with a deep link.

Get a single backtest

Returns the headline metrics for one backtest by id, plus a deep link to its full report page (with equity curve, trade list and configuration). Trade-level detail is intentionally only on the linked page, not in this response.
