Search Companies
Find companies in the Welcome.AI directory of AI vendors. The query is matched as a literal substring of each company's name, tagline and description — never semantically — and results are returned in alphabetical order, so the first result is not the best result and a phrase nobody wrote will not match at all. Use it when you have a company name or one distinctive term. To survey a market segment use list_companies_by_category instead; when the question is about a product rather than the vendor
Get Company
Retrieve one company's full directory record by slug: firmographics, the products it sells, the use cases it addresses, its published Q&A knowledge, and the companies the directory records as its alternatives. Use it once you hold a slug from search_companies, list_companies_by_category or a welcome.ai URL. Do not invent a slug — an unrecognised one returns an error rather than the nearest match. A slug belonging to a company that was merged into another resolves to the surviving company.
Search Solutions
Find individual AI products in the directory. The query is matched as a literal substring of each product's name, tagline and summary, and results are alphabetical rather than ranked. Use it for questions about a product, what it costs or where it can run; use search_companies when the question is about the vendor. pricing_model and deployment are exact-value filters, so run the search without them first and take the values to filter on from the results.
Get Solution
Retrieve one AI product by slug: summary, key features, pricing model, starting price, deployment options, and the company that sells it. Use it once search_solutions has given you a slug. To learn everything one vendor sells, call get_company rather than calling this once per product.
Compare Companies
Build a side-by-side comparison of exactly two companies by slug — firmographics, products and use cases for each, plus the canonical comparison URL on welcome.ai. Use it when a question weighs two named vendors against each other. For a single company use get_company; for three or more, call this on each pair you care about. Two slugs that resolve to the same company return an error instead of a comparison, which is how a merged duplicate and its survivor report.
List Categories
List the directory's classification taxonomy: every industry, business-function and audience category, each with the slug that list_companies_by_category accepts. Call it first whenever you need a category slug, because slugs cannot be reliably guessed from a category's name. It returns categories only and never returns companies.
List Companies By Category
List the companies filed under one category slug. Use it to survey who operates in an industry, business function or audience segment. Take the slug from list_categories first — an unrecognised slug returns an error, not an empty list. When you are looking for a company you can already name, use search_companies instead.
List Use Cases
Browse the directory's library of AI use cases: the problem each one describes, the roles it affects and the industries it appears in. Use it to find applications of AI across the market, not to find vendors — it returns no company records. industry and role are exact-value filters matched against list entries such as 'Healthcare' or 'CTO', so call it unfiltered first and take valid values from the results. Each per-company MCP server exposes a tool of the same name that instead returns only the
